French – The objective is to expose the students to the French language through immersion. Physical actions, songs, and interactive games are a few methods used to help students acquire French. As our students progress, they will be able to communicate with simple greetings and courtesy phrases, as well as use everyday vocabulary such as colors, numbers, items at school and in the house, family members, and days of the week/months of the year. With a focus on communication and engaging activities, students will acquire French pronunciation and learn to appreciate the beauty of French as well as its influence on the English language.

Latin– The objective of 5^th & 6^th Grade Latin is to introduce and expose the students to the Latin language and Roman culture. Students will learn Latin vocabulary and grammar, while interactive dialogs help students practice spoken Latin. The students will be able to communicate with simple greetings and courtesy phrases in Latin. With a focus on grade-appropriate Latin literature and engaging activities, students will learn to appreciate the beauty of Latin as well as its influence on the English language.

PE – During P.E., students learn that they should work to develop the whole person, academically, artistically and physically. Students will engage in grade-level appropriate exercises while learning about major muscle groups, good nutrition, and the importance of staying physically active. Students will also have the opportunity to play games with their classmates with an emphasis on teamwork, good sportsmanship, and practicing our virtues.

Art – Students are introduced to famous artists and art pieces and given the opportunity to create their own works of art based on these masterpieces. Through this process, the students will learn the difference between paintings, drawings, and sculptures as well as the elements of art including lines, shape, color, texture and shade. Additionally, students will study about the technique and history of master artists.

Music – Throughout grades K-6, students are introduced to famous composers and the influential pieces of music written by these composers as well as their historical influence. Students receive instruction in elements of music theory appropriate to their grade level such as rhythm, pitch, values of notes, the pentatonic scale, meter, solfege, note reading, treble/bass clef, the orchestra, and the role of music in ballets, plays, and operas. All students (except ½ day Kindergarteners) participate in a choral concert at the end of each semester.
